Seymour Gift sprinting ahead thanks to the Seymour Club
The Seymour Club has embraced the Seymour Gift in a big way as naming rights sponsors of the massive Victorian Athletic League (VAL) event set to be held at Kings Park on December 14.
The Seymour Running Club (SRC) formed in April this year with the intention of bringing the Seymour Gift back after a hiatus of over two decades.
The SRC’s ambitious plan has come to fruition with the event locked in and the Seymour Club’s startup capital funding crucial in returning the Gift to Seymour, with other local businesses now on board.
SRC President Blair Collins thanked the Seymour Club for its support of the Seymour Gift and its Board’s passionate backing of the event.
“The Seymour Gift would’ve still been a dream without the generous backing of the Seymour Club,” Mr Collins said.
“They’ve thrown their full support behind the Gift and have allowed us to focus our energy on running a top-class event that we hope is here for many years to come.
“With the financial certainty provided by the Seymour Club, we’ve been able to approach other local businesses, many of whom have also provided great support for the Gift.
“We’re incredibly grateful for the Seymour Club’s support and that of other businesses and organisations across our community.”
Regina Schaefer, President of the Seymour Club, said the Board was only too happy to get behind the Seymour Gift.
“The Seymour Running Club have got a fantastic group of community minded individuals on board to run the Gift this December,” Ms Schaefer said.
“They came to us with a clear proposal and vision for the Seymour Gift as an annual event which our Board was delighted to support.
“This event will provide a huge boost for the town, bringing some of the top athletes from across the state to Seymour for a jam-packed athletics meet.
“We’re looking forward to December 14 and are proud to be naming rights sponsors of the Seymour Gift.”
